It has been firmly established that more reading leads to better reading (and writing, spelling, vocabulary and grammar), and that more access to books results in more reading (Krashen, 2004). It is thus reasonable to hypothesize that more access to books is related to better reading. This prediction has been confirmed by a number of studies showing a positive relationship between library quality and reading achievement (McQuillan, 1998; Lance, 2004, and studies reviewed in Krashen, 2004).
The current release allows you to explore globally the geographic distributions for any terrestrial vertebrate species (as well as North American freshwater fish). Specifically you are able to: Display expert range maps, point occurrence records, records from study areas such as reserves and larger regions. These are shown as layers on maps, and a layer control widget allows you to adjust ordering, visibility, etc . Retrieve a list of species for the vicinity of any location worldwide using the species list tool. Simply set search radius and group of interest, and right click (control-click on Macs) your mouse button on a point of the map.

The World Digital Library (WDL) makes available on the Internet, free of charge and in multilingual format, significant primary materials from countries and cultures around the world. These cultural treasures include manuscripts, maps, rare books, musical scores, recordings, films, prints, photographs, and architectural drawings.
AR can be used to bring still pictures to life, point the camera on a mobile device at a still image and it will trigger a video. By following a few steps described here (with examples) you can create your own learning materials.
Alternatively AR can be triggered by location. Point your device at a pre-detemined location to retrieve a video or information you have prepared for learning.

Welcome to the ‘iPad in Education’ web site - concerned with using Apple’s iPad for learning and teaching. Although this is based in the UK, the site’s content will reflect practice from other counties and contexts in order to explore and learn from a wide field. I am Ian Wilson (www.ianwilson.biz) a freelance Apple Education Mentor based in the north west of England (Twitter: @Ian__Wilson). I’ve been completely obsessed with Google’s new mini-site devoted to finding better ways to incorporate proper web searches into the classroom. Dubbed ‘Search Education,’Google’s new site has an array of lesson plans, videos (check a sample out below), concept maps, and other tools designed to help any educator properly integrate Google.
This is just the logical next step for the search (and basically everything else) behemoth as Google pushes its way into the classroom.
As part of Search Education, Google has shared a bunch of lesson plans that are organized by degree of difficulty.
So, if you consider yourself and / or your students Google experts, you should try out the more advanced plans. If you don’t know what ‘boolean’ means, then you probably should start with the more basic stuff.

Dr. Lodge McCammon is a Specialist in Curriculum and Contemporary Media at the Friday Institute for Educational Innovation (www.fi.ncsu.edu). His work in education began in 2003 at Wakefield High School in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he taught Civics and AP Economics. Conducting Literature Circle with mobile devices such as the iPad, not only provides immediate access to a diverse selection of books, but also to reference materials, research tools, interactive maps, and a slew of creation and dynamic notebook apps. Within this single device, students can quickly check the meaning of a word, run a quick background check on a historic event, or articulate their understanding of text with a range of multimedia apps. Teachers can now easily differentiate the processes students can use to demonstrate understanding.
As with any "artistic decision," there will be consequences, which is that not everyone has a superhuman memory and/or the time to reread Divergent before reading Insurgent.
